Following on from the hugely successful discussion event earlier in the year, Andrew Briggs will be leading part 2 of this discussion, asking how we can understand the predicament of children and young people in times of increasing anxiety.

Dr. Andrew Briggs is a distinguished child and adolescent psychotherapist and organisational consultant with over four decades of experience. He has held significant leadership roles within the UK's National Health Service (NHS), including serving as Head of Child Psychotherapy at Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.

Dr. Briggs completed his training at the Tavistock Clinic (now Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust) in the 1980s. Prior to this, he was a university lecturer teaching the history of eastern and western ideas and various aspects of the social sciences. Throughout his career, he has been instrumental in establishing specialized mental health services for vulnerable groups, such as children in care, adopted children, and children from military families. His expertise encompasses clinical practice, training, supervision, teaching, and consultancy across various sectors.

An accomplished author, Dr. Briggs has edited several influential books, including "Surviving Space: Papers on Infant Observation" (2002), "Waiting To Be Found: Papers on Children in Care" (2012), and "Towards Belonging: Negotiating New Relationships for Adopted Children and Those in Care" (2015). These works reflect his deep commitment to understanding and improving the mental health and well-being of children and adolescents.

Beyond his clinical and academic pursuits, Dr. Briggs is passionate about environmental issues. He is a member of Greenpeace and serves as a board member of the Climate Psychology Alliance, highlighting his dedication to addressing the psychological dimensions of climate change.
