PEP-web and APPCIOS

In January 2025 we balloted all APPCIOS members who are also registered with the BPC at Full or Trainee Level as APPCIOS Organisational Therapists.   A clear majority - over 80% - were in agreement to paying an extra fee on top of their membership subscription in order to have access to the PEP-Web library.

So APPCIOS is now subscribing to PEP-Web!

Here's what that means.

What is PEP-Web?

PEP-web is an extensive online psychoanalytic library, offering free access to books and articles for members of any subscribing organisation.   You can find out more about it here.

Psychoanalytic books can be very expensive, and we know that several members will value this resource.   Others are less interested and would not want to pay the extra annual fee involved in addition to their membership subscription.

But PEP-Web has an all-or-none policy:  its usual terms are that all members of the subscribing organisation must pay an annual fee - whether or not they wish to use the library.

We have successfully negotiated with PEP-Web and arrived at a compromise:   only those of our members who have opted to become BPC registrants - at either Full Member or Trainee Member level - will pay this additional annual fee;  and only these BPC registrants would have access to the PEP-web library.

The additional fee for an APPCIOS Full Member registered with the BPC is £56pa.

The additional fee for an APPCIOS Trainee Member registered with the BPC is £36pa.

These sums are tax deductible, as are your APPCIOS and BPC subscriptions.

Any member who already has access to PEP-web through another subscribing organisation is exempt from this extra payment.

How is APPCIOS's PEP-Web access administrated?

PEP-Web works only with a whole-organisation subscription, which allows all those on the organisational PEP-Web register to access their library for a reduced fee:  it is much more expensive for individuals to subscribe if they are outside of an organisation.

APPCIOS has designated a subscription administrator and will be sending PEP-Web their name and email address. This person will be  responsible for handling renewals and any issues that individuals from APPCIOS may have regarding PEP-Web.

Individual members should not contact PEP directly. The administrator has priority access to PEP customer service and will be assisted by PEP with any issues that may arise.

After APPCIOS has paid its subscription, it is possible for us to add new subscribers four times per year (there are no fixed dates).   Regardless of when someone is added to the PEP Subscription Register, they will need to pay the full year fee;  and their access will expire on the same day as that of the rest of the group. Fees for new subscribers are only calculated on a pro-rata basis for any individuals added three months or less before the annual renewal order.
