Our free annual conference . . .
Two senior APPCIOS members and their colleagues will be presenting their work.
Janine Cherry-Swaine and her team consult to staff groups, charities and other professionals working with the adult survivors of Child Sexual Exploitation.
Dr Janine Cherry-Swaine, Consultant Psychotherapist and her colleague Sue Byrnes, Senior Mental Health Nurse, both organisational consultants, will explore their work within the NHS Trauma and Resilience Services in South Yorkshire. The service model was initially designed and developed as part of a response to the ‘Jay Report 2014’ and the aftermath of the sexual exploitation scandal. It has since been adapted to include a consultative offer to staff teams working within the ‘normal’ stress of work settings across the health, public sector and voluntary services landscape.
Their presentation - ‘Those who sup with the devil should have a longed handled spoon’ - explores closeness and distance in the consultative space in situations of stress and trauma in the workplace.
Janine describes her work in her chapter of a recent Routledge publication:
